The standard point of water quality of major rivers and water bodies in Uttar Pradesh is not up to the mark. This might be due to the lack of sewage and industrial effluent treatment plants in the state according to CAG report. Audit report on the economic sector of 2015-16 laid out in the Uttar Pradesh Assembly stated that existing treatment facilities were accountable for the inadequate water quality.
These factors could have been controlled if UP Pollution Control Board would have taken appropriate steps against the defaulter’s municipal authorities and industries.
