Lucknow: Long queues at various automatic recharge card terminal machines (RCTM) and the automatic token vending machines (TVMs) at various Metro stations on 8.5 km-operational corridor on Thursday. Lucknow Metro Rail Corporation (LMRC) has stopped the manual sale of tokens and manual recharge of travel cards from February 8.
LMRC had initiated this purpose drive to create awareness among passengers from February 8 to 10, 2018 to emphasize on the usage of only machines to buy tokens or recharge cards. Manual operations at the ticket counters had been initially shut down. The officials said that the move was to make citizens aware about how to draw tokens and recharge cards through machines.
Many people had trouble facing the problem as they announced this information in a very short time as they have to form long queues before the machines to get the tokens. Passenger had to to stand in queue for long to purchase token from the machine to board the train.
There were many metro staff and customer relation assistant deputed at the station to help the commuters understand the procedure but still many were found clueless at the spot. Lucknow metro is currently running trains through eight stations- Transportnagar, Charbagh, Singarnagar, Krishnanagar, Alambagh, Alambagh Bus Stand, Durgapuri, Mawaiya on about 8.5 km long priority section on Kanpur Road.
The Lucknow Metro will finish construction of its entire 23 km-long corridor of the first phase by March 2019 as per the target given by the government.
