Indians love their cup of morning chai and of course, watching mobile videos in bed. There’s nothing like a cup of hot tea in the morning and hands-on video viewing on mobile phones. Indians like their mornings this way. So much that between 6:30 am and 9:30 am most prefer doing nothing, but this.
The report adds that mobile-video viewing is at its peak during the weekends.
In the recent years, mobile-video consumption has amplified intensely in India. In 2017, the consumption more than doubled from the previous year – thanks to the availability of cheap smartphones and extremely affordable internet data packs. The trend, as the report says, is likely to continue.
The report says that an average Indian spends around 4.5 hours a day accessing internet on their smartphones. The time is about 37 per cent more than the time they spend watching television.
With consumption of 150 crore gigabytes of mobile data per month, India is now the number one country in the world in mobile data consumption, NITI Aayog CEO Amitabh Kant said last year.
No calls, only internet…
Indians spend most time on shopping apps, travel and technology. Social and communication surprisingly take the fourth spot vis-à-vis time spent on smartphone.
Well, the report is no surprise to many. But one thing is certain, mobile-video watching is giving morning television shows a run for their money.
